Sock It To Me Cake

This cake recipe has been in our family for many years. If you have never made it, do so immediately. I am sure you will love it as much as we do!

1 Butter Flavored or Yellow Cake Mix
1 stick butter, softened
1/2 c. oil
1 t. vanilla
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 pint sour cream
4 eggs

2 T. brown sugar
1 t. cinnamon
1 c. chopped pecans

Mix first seven ingredients adding the eggs one at a time. Pour 1/2 the batter in greased bundt pan. Sprinkle with 2 T. brown sugar, 1 t. cinnamon, and 1 c. chopped pecans. Pour in remaining batter.

Bake at 350 degrees for approx. one hour.

** I love the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture so I usually add extra.
** Can also cook in a 9 x 13 pan but adjust the baking time.

  1. Hi Diana,
I'm glad you came over for visit. Yes, my mom's name is Bennie. She is "mom on turbo". She just retired and is traveling almost every weekend with friends. She is a great cook and baker. She can make up her own recipes as she goes. But I have to admit that my pancakes are better! :)

I am so glad that we met. We will keep in touch. I'm packing this week to relocate to 300 miles away this weekend. We will be in a new city by Christmas. The expenses are higher there so I will have to be doing a lot of cooking for my 2 teens, instead of going out to eat as much.

    Have a great week!

  6. I have the cake in the oven as I type this. It smells sooooooo good. We have our small group coming over tonight for game night and it seemed like the perfect dessert to serve. Lucky for me I had all the ingredients on hand and this recipe was so easy to throw together. I used Saigon Cinnamon - which I picked up recently at Costco. I don't know if you have tried it, but it's ingredibly rich and probably the best tasting cinnamon I've ever purchased.
